Workshops calendar for 2009
Cyanotype (blue printing) workshop
A workshop with Barbara Schey
Saturday, 21 November 2009, 10.00am - 4.00pm
This technique is the same as used previously by architects to produce copies of their drawings, ie blueprints.
The technique has been around since 1842 and has recently had a revival.
It is a photographic technique which, with the aid of ultra violet light from the sun, can transfer image outines to cotton or silk fabric or good quality handmade paper.
It is an exciting technique for all textile workers to extend their skills and is particularly suitable for quilters or bookbinders.
We do not need a dark room, it will not affect people with allergies provided reasonable care is taken and it can easily be done at home.
It will be a one day workshop. We can experiment with basic technique and try different materials such as paper, fabric, etc. If time allows, we would try sepia toning and hand colouring.
Price of workshop: - $80.00
plus
Material (chemical) fee - $15.00
Class limit 14 people.
