Strathnairn Arts Association is delighted to have been successful in the 2010 ACT Arts Funding round. We have been allocated $25, 675 per year for 2 years until 2011 with CPI increase, to assist with annual program costs. This means we will have our administrator and some help with our financial processing.
"Supporting our artists, art groups and organisations is critical to the development and sustainability of our diverse arts sector and insures our community can access and participate in the Arts" said Mr John Stanhope.
Please see the Chief Minister's media release with full list of sixty one successful individual artists, arts groups and organisations who will share in more than $1.3 million from the 2010 ACT Arts Fund.
Travelling in the Landscape a joint exhibition by Dirk and Anne Bouma - "A successful exhibition at Strathnairn nearly 2 years ago was thought to be the last one, mainly because most good things have to end sometime. However being forever optimists we are having another fling. This exhibition will be a special one in that it will be shared with my wife Anne. As before my contribution will focus on my love for nature and the landscape in oil and watercolour paintings. Anne will exhibit flower paintings, her watercolour greeting cards and also handmade craft items. The opening will also feature the launching of my book My painting adventures bringing together some of my painting experiences over the past nearly 20 years". Dirk Bouma

Chocolate Box Landscapes, painting by Michael Winters - Strathnairn Artist in Residence Major Exhibition - The exhibition is work that Michael Winters produced during and since his period as Artist in Residence at Strathnairn in early 2009.
The work is a direct response to the landscape that surrounds Strathnairn; however it is not landscape in the conventional sense, far from it.
The title is somewhat tongue in cheek and is a slight dig at the notion of what many people think landscape painting should be. The works which are 3D could be called "sculptural landscapes".
Placing an aspect of a "real landscape" into the 3D works, the landscape becomes part of a cosmic landscape that includes references to time and space. This illustrates how our world and its landscape are only a small part of a much bigger world, which is both vast and endless.
